woodwork magazine surfaced in september 1996 from the popular openmouth poetry readings in perth west australia. originally established as an outlet for the fresh works of experimental writers/performers of the openmouth sessions, woodwork poetzine provides a platform for new and bent-up writings and art challenging the boundaries of popular/mainstream language and culture...

now, with the development of web-based technology, woodwork is free and available to all. over the next few months i will be adding new works and features to make woodwork an online construction far beyond the scope of 30 a5 b/w photocopied pages!

due to the costs of printing/photocopying, and the dynamic scope of pc culture, woodwork will now be an online affair published monthly via email & website, featuring fresh works by emerging and alternative writers and artists.

woodwork will present new and innovative poetry, sound and graphix from an anti-corporate, poly-cultural experimental stance.

since 1996, woodwork [published bi-annually in A5-photocopy format, by openmouth] has been responsible for the publication of over 100 bent-up works unfit for the traditional australian poetry journals plus interviews with perth original songwriters/poets and has been actively involved with the promotion of countless emerging writers, musicians and performance artists.

woodwork is searching for any poetry, fragments, articles, interviews, graphic art, mp3s etc exploring the language boundaries of our consumer-based culture.
