Passenger 57

Franc and I we were sitting in our hotel room on the Sunday night of the NYWF, not much to do… a little tired so we decide to stay in. There's a movie on… "The Jackal", starring Richard Gere and Bruce Willis.

Fairly average movie but it did serve its purpose. Mildly entertaining, and a good time filler while we spent the night drinking and eating the "Extravaganza" pizza from Domino's (Huge pizza, twice the size of a large and great value to boot!) The movie on the other hand wasn't that great value and it lead me to one question…

Have the characters in the movies, or television at all for that matter ever watched TV, seen any other movies at all?

I mean for fuck's sake! How many time have you sat there during a movie and said "Oh… don't do that!" or "What are you doing?"

Lots of times…Do you know why you ask these questions? Because you have seen television before, you know what is going to happen.

The characters in the movie though (and this is my main point), I believe haven't ever seen television or else they would know better. They would know that Schwartza'fukin'egger would be back before he even told us he would be. They would already know that Bruce Willis would save the day in Die Hard 2 and 3 because they had already seen the 1st one!

In situations where there is a noise outside, it's late at night, nobody's home and there has been a spate of mass murders in the area, we know better than to go and check it out because we have all seen "Nightmare on Elm Street".

But the best of all though, is in the movie "Passenger 57", where they think it is a great idea to put the plane hijacker on a plane to transport him from one prison to another.

And of course the dude who trains people to deal with hijackers just happened to be on that same plane… (Yeah, whatever!).

So what happens? The dude fucking hijacks the plane! Why? Because that's his job and he is good at it. No getting him straight from A to B by the quickest means possible.

I mean of course he was going to hijack the plane, it's 10 minutes in to the movie, if he didn't, what the fuck else were you going to do with the other 1 ˝ hours in the movie?  Show him interacting with all of the other inmates in the prison?

No, That would be boring.

I will tell you what you should have done and that is put him on a fucking train… that would have stuffed him up…

just as long as it wasn't the one with Ronnie Biggs on it in the movie "Buster".
